I'd say that Paul Tracy's move at San Jose this week would have to rate right up there.

I think the guy in the kilt at the F1 race a few years back should be on the list too. I kept cringing thinking someone was gonna plow him on live TV.

Lightning McQueen staying out on old tires, then suffering a blowout and ending up in a tie with Chick Hicks and The King in the final race of the Piston Cup.

Hmmm, no one has brought up "I was Seventh". A classic.

Though I am a Michael S. fan, I agree with R + S. If the World Championship gets real close to the last race, I will guarantee Michael will do something monumentally dumb. Can't you just see him trowing nails out of his car if he is ahead of Alonso.

I still hope MS wins the World Championship, I just hope he does it fair. Lord help Alonso if he tries to pass Michael.

What does F1 do if the season ends in a tie for the World Championship?

If F1 is a tie there ia a cagefight to determine the winner

Some of the dumbest things I have seen are the fans in rally races with all of the fans crowded on the outside of a difficult turn. But the Baja 1000 takes the cake - fans actually try and touch the trucks as they are flying down the road, landing jumps, etc, crazy..

there was a report from Rally once that fans would reach out and touch the cars going by. During a pit stop, one of the teams found their fuel lid was jammed, only to find a finger was stuck in it!

How about Stefan Johannson (I think) at the Grand Am cup race at the glen a year or two ago. Spun in T1 and came to a stop across the track at about pit out. Decides to gun it forward and forced Tony Stewart off the road at full tilt into the grass where he managed to keep it straight enough to get back on the track just before the wall comes back into play track left at turn-in for T2.

Anybody remember the year that the pace car crashed at Indy into a photographer's scaffold?
How about Guerrero crashing on the pace lap, warming his tires on the back straight as the pole sitter?

How about the Grand AM Race in Long Beach where a DP Car decided to head for the pits at the end of the longest, fastet blind turn on the track, turing in before looking and completely taking out another car? I forget the drivers involved, but that was one of the dumbest moves I and the announcer had ever seen.

Kevin Cogan taking out the whole front row at the 500
Guerrero's warm-up spin leading the 500 parade lap
Didn't Scott Sharp do the same on lap 1?
Giving Sarah Fischer a ride

Grand-Am has had a lot of stupid crashes during the past few years.

Paul Tracy's crash last week is my pick.
