Default New 997 GT3 RSR

Test Day Proximus 24 Hours of Spa

http://www.fiagt.com/gallery.php

http://www.fiagt.com/newsitem.php?key=996

Will it be able to take on the new Ferrari F430 GTC next year? Ferrari leads the FIA GT2 Manufacturers Cup by 30 points after three races (69 to 39). A 996 won its class in the 1,000 km of Spa two months ago.

Two of them will race in G2 class in the 24 Hours of Spa with a Gillet Vertigo and a new BMW Z4 M Coupe.

Are there any other links on the new 997 GT3 RSR?

Nice to see that Porsche is racing the 997 derivatives, but I don't know if I like the aesthetics. The flares look like they would produce a lot of drag. It seems like they would try to tidy up the aero package. But in the end... if its effective, who cares what it looks like.

I don't like the look of the fenders at all. I think the GT3 Cup looks better.

the rear bodywork looks horrible. No body parts line up.

Manthey Racing won the 24 Hours of Nurburgring last month with very good drivers. They will race the two 997 GT3 RSRs later this month at Spa.

Aren't one of the following drivers a factory Porsche driver?

Lucas Luhr, Marcel Tiemann, Timo Bernhard, Marc Lieb, Sascha Maassen, and Pedro Lamy

Pedro Lamy drives for the factory Aston Martin Racing team in ALMS.

This link says it has a 3.8 liter motor with 485 hp and 435 N/m. How much is that in lb-ft of torque? It mentions 14 inch tires, but I thought the only GT cars that can use that size are GT1 cars, not GT2. Don't GT2 cars have 12 inch wide tires?

Lucas Luhr, Timo Bernhard, Marc Lieb and Sascha Maassen are Porsche factory drivers.

You can also see on pictures Roland Kussmaul and a young engineer I met in Le Mans in 2004 & 2006. He told me in June he was working on the 997 GT3 RSR and that the car was ready.

Don't focuse on the aspect of this car: It's only a test car.

I would like to know what sort of gearbox this is: regular sequential or PDK?

Man, the gap between the flares and rear bumper is horrible! You could drive a hot wheels car between them.

That translated French link says the new RSR weighs 1,225 kilos while Risi's F430 GTC weighs 1,100 kilos.

How much hp and torque does the GTC have?

Why will the new RSR weigh 100 kgs more than the previous RSR?
