Default Can't Find Mobile1 15-50 Anywhere

Guys,

I can't find 15-50 anywhere (Wal-Mart, Sams Club, local auto stores, OG Racing). Those local places that used to carry it aren't anymore.

I live in Northern Virginia, any idea of who is still carrying it? Should I try a different viscosity? Any ideas of where I can order online?

Thanks,

-Skip

My close friend here in Rochester NY is a Mobil 1 distributor. If you really get stuck send me a PM. We can work something out. The problem is that shipping costs drive the total cost up.

Mobile 1 recently discontinued the red-cap 15W50. Now it's available as the gold-cap "Extended Service" variety. There may or may not be a difference, aside from the higher price.

Don - thanks and I'll get back to you if I can't seem to find a supplier.

Jack - Thanks for the clarification, but no-one seems to carry it with any color cap...I wonder why?

Thanks and keep the insights coming.

You can order it online for just over $8 a quart (ouch!) here. Shipping on 12 quarts will cost you another $8, for a grand total of $104.

That and a $70 tank of gas is probably enough to make me start thinking about buying a bicycle.

Does anyone offer Mobile1 in bulk...like by the gallon? That might be cheaper and I think it's a lot easier to store given the way we use it in our cars.

Wal-Mart was my source for M-1 in 5-qt jugs (easier to carry if not always cheaper). I find them more readily available in winter than summer. Fortunately oil doesn't spoil.

I second Wal-Mart as the source of 15-50 in 5 Qt. jugs in the Philly area. Find out who will be traveling down to the next VIR or Summit event ask them to grab you a few.

I moved to Amsoil for my business as well as for the 968. Looking for it was not what i wanted to do and you just call Amsoil and the next day it is here. It is about the same price and the 20w-50 seems to work well.

Go with Red Line. It is miles ahead of the Mobil 1 for about the same price.

I get my 15w50 from Pep Boys here in CA - now with the gold top, so you have top look hard to make it out from the other extended performance oils from Mobil1!

You prefer this for track use over 0W40?

Chris.

Yes M1 is also sold in bulk. We purchase 1500+ gal a week of it at the large dealership I work at. Pumps right out of a tanker truck and into a big storage tank. It is also sold in 55 gal drums I think.

Mobil was stupid to change the containers and confuse a large loyal fan base. They are loosing users to other brands from this.

I'll second Amsoil. I used to run it 20+ years ago in my 914 when nothing else would hold up. Just went back to it from Mobil 1 because I prefer the 20w50 weight and it comes right to my door for $28 a gallon.

Thanks everyone...I found a hole in the wall auto parts store that promised to have the oil available for me if I call ahead. They had a couple quarts and had their driver bring another bunch within 15 minutes while I waited.

Its nice to have some retailers actually try to help a customer... The chain auto parts stores wouldn't do anything for me...
