That track looks longer than 2.5 miles as stated on their page. What beautiful country, I miss Texas from my cutting horse days. Are there elevation changes too?

Yes, its on some rolling terrain. I've been out there myself and it is a great track they are building. Can't wait to see a CR on it!

Greg,

The back half of the course looks like it will be real fun as it presents both turns and descents. Was out there about one month ago before paving started, and it looks like a really FUN track. May have to wander out there tomorrow to see how things have changed since the last visit.

Toby,
We are going to run out there in the morning. Shoot me an email if you want to hook up. Plan to grab breakfast around 9A then head to the track.

I was surprised to look at the track plan and see that all corners appear to be constant radius. I would have thought that would have detracted from it as a "road" course. For myself I do find increasing or decreasing radius turns to be more "interesting". Especially the 911 nemesis turn, downhill, decraesing radius,, wet :-(

Then again, it seems that US rural roads are laid out with a constant radius (presumably simpler to lay out) while european roads seem to use a cubic spline (constant rate of change of radius).

Any road or track designers care to comment?

US and A is the greatest country in the world, all other countries are run by little girls. US and A is number one exporter of potassium, other countries have inferior potassium.

The new track in Hastings has a KILLER decreasing radius turn that goes to the front straight. I went 2 off way too many times to count... but it was fun.

It was the perfect day for a trip out to the new track! After running a few laps each direction, I think you guys will dig it! Here's a few pics. You can kind of see the elevation change. It's a roller coaster & it's going to be fast

Jay and Gang:

Breakfast was great! Comaraderie was great! But I have to tell you, this track is going to be something to behold when it's done. There was an earlier mention of all turns appearing to be constant radius turns. Don't let the pictures fool you, this one is gonna be challenging. There are some real surprises on the back half of the course coming off of the long straight. If you know the course, you will be prepared. If not, expect the unexpected here. Hard left at the end of a very long straight on a slight uphill grade, over the crest in the middle of the turn and the course falls away from you and it's all downhill. We all sounded like Slim Pickens riding that metal cylinder down at the end of Dr. Strangelove.

It' gonna be fun. AND FAST!

Thanks again to Jay, Jim, George, Steve and everyone else.

I can't wait.
