Winch Mount for Enclosed Trailer
I have a Milemarker winch that I want to mount in my enclosed trailer. I have a diamondplate floor. How are you guys mounting your winch? Thanks

winch mounting
I have a linoleum floor(i think thats how you spell it)...I mounted mine on the floor inside one of the cabinets. Its tucked away and the line clears the bottom frame of the cabinet itself. Of course I had to make a brace and support it so that I would not work loose from the floor. It works like a champ!

Thanks. I had a PM from a guy who did similarly. I was thinking that mounting it directly on the floor might cause some issues with rubbing on the back edge of the trailer at the ramp door hinge area. It must rub there before the car gets high enough up the ramp, no? I was thinking of mounting it high enough to clear that edge when hooked to the car. Not necessary?

My winch is mounted to the center frame rail and located inside my front cabinet (see pic below). I've only had to use it twice and it works great - it's remote control so I can sit in the car and control the winch with a small key fob. Make sure it's mounted very solid...there is a lot of weight being put on the mounting when you're pulling a car into the trailer.
Good luck,
Rick

Andy,
It looks nice but I found it difficult to keep clean and it was easy to damage/dent it. I've since changed out the entire floor to be Al treadplate and love it.
Thanks,
Rick

Rick those cabinets look awesome in the V-nose. Is it an ATC and if so, how long and what's your overall take on the rig?
Lt. Col... What trailer did you finally end up with?

Hi John
I bought a 20' enclosed unit, steel frame, aluminum skin, dual-axle w/electric brakes, diamondplate floor, extra 9" height, 4" width. Got a "deal" from a local guy wanting to get it out of his driveway.
Sorry, no wedding invite. We're going to do a small civil ceremony with family only. April's not into any pomp and ceremony. That way I can spend more $ on my toys.

Make sure you have a winch plate (heavy plate steel) welded under your floor (from the underside) directly to the frame. Make sure it's thick. Drill your holes . . . mount your winch. When mounting your battery, if on the inside, make sure you have a box with a vent hose which is ventilated to the outside - or mount it on the tongue. The new thing we're doing is mounting a small solar panel on the top of trailers and wiring it to the battry so it will trickle charge. This way when you go to use it the battery isn't dead.
