Default Question RE: Recaro Pole Positions

I've noticed that the seat and back cushions are removable. I'm curious why?

For me, the rear bottom cushion is removed - it gives me just enough extra head room to keep my head from hitting the roof.

A lot of guys remove the lower cushions when driving on the track. It gives you a little more helmet clearance, and also a more direct 'feel' of the car and the track.

lol.. get aluminum seats and you get plenty of 'direct feel' without having to remove any cushions!

I used to have pole positions and they felt like mush in comparison to my aluminum seats

This also allows you to put in padding and get a better fit. I stuffed a 1/2 inch pad on each side of my SPG's for a snugger fit.

It's a nice feature to have if you're using an R3 as well, the cutout seat pad goes right in it's place.

The way I drive, I usually remove the lower cushion because it needs cleaning.

lol.. say that after driving 300 miles one way in your track car aluminum seat with ultra stiff suspension (barely streetable) because you don't have a trailer to and tow vehicle and have to drive on the street....

550 miles, each way, between Los Angeles and the track at Reno-Fernley, in Nevada. 476 miles to Thunderhill Raceway, in Willows. Who needs a trailer?
