17" vs 18" wheels/tires for track days

I like Bull's suggestion, 18s for the track, 17s on the street. I know that several folks who ran 18s on their 993s experienced wheel failures on the DC/VA streets. I suspect a stiff early car would be even worse on wheels on public roads.

Here's a good one for thought. A friend runs 9x17 55ET with 255 tires on all four corners on his 02 C2 coupe. On tjhe front he uses a 1/2" spacer. And this guy is pretty quick. I asked him about it and he said he does it so he can switch tires from front to rear and side to side. He also laughed and said it cured his push.
