95 993 D Stock - Seats, Forgelines, Full Cage, RS Door Panels. Needs 100 pounds to meet 3064 dry. Car is now with a new owner. Hopefully he will get it into a Club Race. The car was a lot of fun.

Are you going to race the '02 in C?

0 ballast
'89 944 Turbo
race seats
cage
18" wheels
full carpet
sound deadening removed
full glass
cat removed
side exhaust (less stainless)

3050 w/1/2 fuel while the limit is 2998.

maybe this is why I don't see the necessity to change car weights.....whoever posted that they need 300 lbs of balast to make weight with no other than safety mods is a concern. No way I would want to add a 300 lb chunk of metal in the car. Not doubting it, just really surprised that someone would have to carry that much ballast with a stock, safety-only modded car.

On the other hand, if sound deadening removed, power window/sunroof motors, excess electrical, etc., etc. etc....then you have made a concious decision to lighten the car and it is your issue. I can't speak to other stock classes and weight, I am just saying keep in mind all of the things that you have done to the car to get it to it's current weight and look at it from that perspective.

0 Ballast
F-stock '92 968
Full cage
Fikse's
Recaro SPG
Kill switch
Window net
No rear seatbacks
Spare tire in place

Seems to sit right at 3086 (limit) with a wee bit of fuel.

I seem to be the exception as most other 968's I've heard of seem to have to carry some ballast.

1988 944 Turbo "S"
SP3 class - roughly an E-class 951S
full extensive cage
sparco evo 2's, rear top removed
17" BBS Mg's + Toyos
Straight exhaust - stainless
No sound deadening
factory glass
full factory carpets
no radio or speakers
small FE
tarret sway on front
Bilstein coilovers

3270 with driver. 3 25lb lead bricks + spare tire. i weigh 180lbs with all my gear. 1/2 tank of gas. have to run at 3250 for 944SuperCup

so i'm at about 2970 w/ just that gas no spare or ballast in a car that has a min of 2998. could maybe do a rear bumper in FG to save some weight. not going to find 100 more pounds easily . . certainly w/o going further into rule "gray areas"

Jeff,
i'm with you on the whole elective lightening mods issue. Seems kinda ironic huh? stock safety only car is one thing, but elective mods are a problem of your own doing.

Sounds like the 944/968 platform doesn't have any issues with the listed weights. I wonder if this is something 911 specific (the recent models)? I wonder how the Boxster's and 928's compare.

I don't do enduros, but would probaly have to ballast if I did. I generally fill the tank for a sprint and that just about gets me by with about 30 lbs of safe room.

F stock 944S2
I use fuel to make weight (need to finish race with over 1/2 tank) but if I plan on running light fuel load or doing a enduro, I need appx 50 lbs of ballast (depending on scale reading) Car has all the normal race mods (Fiske, full cage, race seats, ect.)

Charlie,
Unfortunately the '02' won't be in C. After 2 rounds of spine surgery I decided to hang up racing. Can't handle all the loading/unloading equipment.

One more for the '944-based weights seem accurate' file.

1989 E-class 944 Turbo.
Stock except for: Typical safety items (except fire system). Redone suspension including light sways. Fikse wheels and Hoosiers. Removed ~15# of sound deadening under the driver seat plus the rear seatback. Lighter exhaust.

Min weight is 2998#. With 1/4 tank, I'm at 3040#, so no ballast needed.

Alan, sorry to hear you won't be racing anymore. You could always hire a arrive-and-drive crew to do the work for you...

1980 911SC - G Class

Light 17" wheels
Composite seats
rear jump seats removed to install full cage
FG front and rear bumpers
FG tail
lexan windshield
RS door panels
Headers and light wt. mufflers

Sound deadening left on the pan (why take it off, its weight as low on the car as you can get)

Ballast: 50 lbs.

Need 1/4 tank to meet 2555 weight (can't get much more fuel out of the tank than this anyway).
