Question Muffler Recommendations for H Prepared/G 2.7L CIS Engine

I'm looking for some recommendations on mufflers for a 2.7L CIS engine out of a 1975 911S. The car is classed in G for Club Racing (H Prepared vehicle) and is running headers. Would appreciate some recommendations on quality, non-restrictive mufflers that keep the roar down and have a "nice" (and WHAT exactly does THAT mean?) Porsche racing sound to them. Performance is first and foremost, followed closely by weight and then "sound".

Thanks.

Toby

Toby:

Get yourself a Flowmaster Series 80 muffler, some collector flanges, a pair of reducers, some U-bends, and some short lengths of 2.25" pipe and fabricate yourself a real neat, lightweight race muffler system.

It makes excellent power and sounds good, too,....

Steve, source for the Flowmaster? Also, I see something called a "Phase 9" advertised by Smartracing.... they generally have good stuff... any info on this?

do you need to meet a sound control?

I picked up some megaphones, and welded the supertrap plates to the ends.
it has almost no back pressure. it muffles the sound a bit at lower rpms, but is too darn loud at the higher rpms... that being said, I ran with that setup for about a year, never had a problem at the track... but was booted from autox, so I swiched to a bursch type...

I did drive it on the street, but was careful not to put my foot into it, except on the hwy.

Steve,

Thanks for the suggestions. I just purchased this car and will begin running it in a month or so when the Club Races hit Motorsport Ranch in Fort Worth. With the variety of mufflers available from Flowmaster, it's difficult to know which one to pick. I appreciate the pointer!

Also, if possible, I would like to call once I get back to Dallas (I'm out of town right now) and ask you a few brake questions. The car has the RS/Bilstein front spindles/16" wheels and the 911S brakes. Thinking maybe about going after 930 brakes as an alternative and would like to ask some questions if possible.

Hope all is well and thanks again.
