Your prices are pretty reasonable. My wife gave me custom painting of my helmet for my birthday last year and I'm finally in the process of having it done. The guy I'm using charges about $500 for a "simple" job (stripes, a flag, etc) and to do a custom "cartoon" on mine will be more.

Sorry guys but, you get what you pay for in most cases & a good helmet paint job is hard to come by. Troy Lee wants 1,500-2,000 these days. I hade mine done in Canada great work & the price was right this is my second one. The quality is second to none.

Wow...that's a really nice paint job!

But, for $1.5K-$2K, I think that, if I had the budget to race, I'd rather put the money into the car or the driver and just have a plain vanilla helmet...oh wait, I've already got the plain vanilla helmet...and I've already done some upgrades to the car...still have to do more upgrades the driver...

well, "expensive" is a relative word. I was willing to spend $750 on 968 mirrors and door handles for my 944. Some people balk at that. It's all about what makes you happy and what your budget is to accomplish that.

Rene's helmet is STUNNING. That is F1 quality helmet painting there my friend. If you don't mind my asking, how long did it take?

That took about 2 weeks he had my design on hand since it’s my second helmet so that was only paint time not design as well. BTW I only paid 500 USD for this work. To me it was well worth considering what other people charge & when I see track pics I can definitely tell if that is me in the car.

Your helmet looks great!

Mind sharing with us who the artist was?

Not at all his name is Patrice Harvey. His company is www.smartracepaint.com He paints for Champ car & Atlantic drivers. When I got my first one done he had not done any for named drivers yet. Now he is much better known among the pro drivers like Andrew Ranger, Brian Sellers, & Michael Valiente.
