Question 944 Rear Window Safety Straps – Looking for good examples

I need to add the mandatory window strips to my 944 track car and wanted to see if anyone had some suggestions on mounting points. I’ve seen so many great examples of fabrication from this forum I wanted to look here first.
Pictures would be fantastic…….

Thx

Cool. Do the LP rules allow Lexan?

Any pix or info on you car? I gave EP a thought a while back, but with the reduction in weight I think the 944 might have a chance to be a player, if not a contender in ITS. I would have liked to have seen it be 50 lbs lighter than the new weight, but that's trying to calc weight with a VERY fine pencil. I figure if I cannot driver around 50 lbs I don't have room to complain anyway.

I tried to add a picture but it didn't work. Any ideas?
Last time I ran Sebring I was running 2:44's and the EP 944's were running 2:39-2:42's. Should not be a problem competing with my car running 70lbs. over old ITS. With the 140lb reduction those numbers are pretty easy. Then add some fiberglass and lexan it will be sweet.

Jim

I just got "Sports Car" and the guy that won the EP race at the Jan 8 SCCA event was a guy named Greg Ira, and his fast lap was a 2:26.46 in a Mazda. He qualified and finished 14th at the Runoffs last year, in a Nissan, so maybe the Sebring folks got his car make wrong, or he changed cars.

By the way, how did you do a fuel cell?

Anyway, good luck.

I don't have any pics, but I do have a hatch rigged up with lexan, 944 wing, and retaining straps. Two 1x1/8" aluminum strips, pop-riveted at each end. Of course, with the lexan, though the rules require the retaining straps, you'll really want to make sure you've got the lexan supported underneath, as it will bow inward under pressure if you're running any spoiler, including the aforementioned stock 944 one (thereby cutting your rear downforce at speed and destabilizing the car). I do have photos of this happening on my car on the front straight at Mid-O (somewhere). Pretty cool, really!

Think I will be ditching the lexan hatch someday, as I don't anticipate racing with it again, and it's a PITA for the street - just have to get a regular hatch to replace it with...

Let me know if/when you ditch it. I would be happy to dispose of it for you - just a question of how much it would cost me.
