Default New to Drivers Ed

I live in Monmouth County NJ(Southern) and want to start taking my newly acquired 2003 996 to the track.

I am in the region of Jersey Shore PCA but I looked at there website and was not too impressed with the events schedule,etc.... I went to the NNJR PCA website(Northern NJ) and it looks much more comprehensive and the events schedule looked much better to me.

Anyone here belong to either of these groups and what are your thoughts?

Thanks.....

I am not familiar with Jersey Shore PCA, but the NNJR PCA region is great, and their DE events are top notch. Give both a shot, but I can assure you you will not be disappointed with NNJR.

A slight warning, though: Performance Driving is highly, highly addictive. One puff of the track pipe and you are likely to be hooked. Don't ask me how I know

Jersey shore are a great bunch and run a fun event every year at LRP usually in September. You can attend other regions events. Best place to look is Dale's track schedule page

Alex:
NNJR PCA member here. (Actually, I'm on the NNJR Board of Gov's).

My suggestion: when possible, sign up for and attend the Jersey Shore DE's. And sign up for and attend the NNJR events to satisfy your calendar!

Hope to see you out there!

NNJR has a very extensive and good program, as do many regions including Metro and CVR. You should be able to do DEs with any PCA region that meets your schedule needs. Dale & Adam's Track Schedule is a great resource for finding events: Dale & Adam's Track Schedule

NNJR and Schattenbaum run tremendous events, both from a quality and a quantity standpoint. They each have multiple events every month during the driving season. They also tend to fill up quickly, so sign up fast.

Jersey Shore may not run as many DE events, but they are one of the most fun groups to drive with---I have joined them at Lime Rock for each of the past 3 years and have had an absolute blast.

You'll have a bunch of fun. Especially in the 996. It has a very modern suspension and a lot of power.

TD is completely correct. He hits the track rock all the time. I heard he deals in underground racing upgrades out of his garage so the local PCA wives don't find out how much $$ is being spent. All cash. No paper trails.

Have fun, and be safe.

Suddenly the car just handles and brakes 100% better, must be the driver right?

Psssst. Pssst. Have I gotta deal for you! The track addiction is going to get even worse for me. I just found out yesterday that they are building a new road racing track in the Republic of Panama that supposedly will be the best in Central and South America. Yeeaaaww. Imagine, only a 5-7 hour flight to paradise, where you can relax and feed your addiction at the same time.

Yes they are a good group, got to meet a bunch of good guys (and girls - Lynn in her 996 Turbo was a hoot to talk to, she even liked my bluetail SC!) at their LRP event, which was run quite well. Just know that you can attend any PCA event that has room for you and between NNJR, NJSR, CVR, Potomac, and all the others you can get all the time you could ever want. Once you get a little time out there give the BMW club events a try, it's fun running with other marques too!

You have no idea what you are in for.....
