Yeah, me too at larry@lpherman.com. I'd love to see what Tom Pank looked like in the carousel.

Hi Larry and Mark
You should have vid in a little while.
Notice how tom lets car track out from the 1st hard 90 degree left and then can make the hard right into the carousel. I have to throw away some exit speed because I need bigger arc and to trail bake like mad to get thecar to turn there.
Through the middle arcing right section speed difference is not as bad but he is still faster. Then he crushes me through the final throw away left. I think he can stand flat on it from the last RH berm of the carousel to turn in for the strait #9.
The good news is we made a major change that seemed to work well a VIR hard to be sure with 8 dry laps and we have a couple of more we hope to shake down at Sebring. Which should be a lot of fun (big GT1 field)
Also Bill P is building a new GT1 for a customer (new racer who has been running a fast 930 in DE) with multi link from a wrecked GT3 so the never ending battle of sorting more grip never ends.

I haven't seen this mentioned but, in the left hook, I try to extend the straight between Nascar and the left hook for as long as possible braking later and harder, turning-in later (maybe 2 car lengths later) and more decisively while trail braking to get quick rotation. At the same time, I downshift into 2nd to get a quick launch out of 4. What this does is places my car further towards the left of the track at the exit of 4 allowing for a larger, single arc through 5a and 5b. I upshift back into 3rd around 5a and lift in 5b to get some rotation. I don't know how applicable this is to your 944 as I track a front wheel drive car (Acura RSX).
Nice video...it got me salivating for next season!

Hey Bill,
Would appreciate a copy [or a link] as well - tony@trackvision.net
We need to get some data onto your video so we can truly appreciate your speed. Do you carry a data logger????

Thanks Bill. I can see where Tom and his car are working very well. The car that I had would not turn in the way that Tom's did, and I had to take wider arcs too. And as I was close to full throttle through that section, I'm sure that he was flat all the way. Seemed like his car worked better over the bumps too. My car would take a big hop in 10, even though I had it right up against the inner berm (the smoothest line). Tom's car looked like it just sails right over that section.
