Swedeboy, you pedant! Poor guy is allowed be confused at least until he gets a few hundred more laps in.
Works at Klein Karussel as well...
Okay, yes Aremburg into Fuchscorhe not Karussel. Turns are similar in radius easy to group together. Interesting, Fassel likes to treat the mini Karussel as a regular turn apexing at the inside berm and exiting slightly early as he puts it "violently". When we did a course under his instruction his laps at open time were easily low 8minutes on street tires in any car he grabbed. He was even given the M5 ring taxi ( no one really saw him at the speeds he was going in that car). No helmet, radio on. I guess a 100 laps would help my memory, but his 1000 plus is beyond belief.

Nice animation here with the turn names. Interesting that they have a name I never saw before "3-fachs rechts" for the turn that the English speakers have named "Miss-Hit-Miss".

Dr. Jupmann, Thanks for taking time to do your excellent write-up of the 'Ring.
One remark you made took me back there in an instant. You mentioned that you chuckled out loud in several places on the track. In 1998, we took our family to Europe, each of us wish-list in hand. Of course, the 'Ring was at the top of mine. My wife and Mother-in-law were not interested in going on the track, so my sons--18 and 16 at the time, and DE track rats for most of their lives by then, took turns in the front seat of our rented Vauxhaul diesel something. Back to the chuckling. That line took me back to my oldest ever-too-cool-to-react son beginning to laugh out loud and shouting WOW! at almost every turn. Thanks for taking me back to that moment.

I would assume that this statement on the Nurburgring website does not preclude European delivery cars?
Vehicles with transfer or limited-time number plates are not allowed to drive on the Nürburgring.

Wow I just joined this Rennlist thing in mid January after I purchased my 997S and I just found this post. Awesome!!!
I raced on the Nurburgring from 1998 to 2001 with a BMW Team based out of Munich, Gemany in a BMW Z3. It was the most fun time in my life and yes I am NOT married LOL.
I raced in the 24 hours of Nurburgring 3 times 1999, 2000, and 2001. 1999 was my most memorable year since we finished 3rd in class and 33 overall out of some 210 cars!!! I also race the 6 hours of Nurburging 3 times ('98,'99,'00) My favorite race was the 6 hours of Nurburgring in 1998. We finished 2nd in class after comming way back with major problems( wheel bearing and exhaust). It was my personal best drive on that track and I will always remember it.
The series I raced in was called the Deutscher Veedol Langstreckenpokel Nurburgring. They are long distance races normally 4 hours in length with the exception of the 6 hour race and the 24 hour race. I also raced in the FIA Grp. N international series in 1998 and 1999 all over Europe. Hands down it was the best time of my life!!!!
These are my most prized possesions, my trophies from the Nurburgring. The big gold one is my personal favorite from the 1999 24hrs. of Nurburgring 3rd in class. The blue one on the left is from the '98 6 hours of Nurburgring 2nd in class, and the small gold/silver one on the right is from the '98 4 hour Nurburgring race 3rd in class. The poster in the background is the Nurburgring series that I raced in Deutscher Veedol Langstreckenpokel and the dates for each race.
I will post some pics of the actual race car when I get home tonight!!!

Ok here are my pics from my racing scrap book from the Nurburgring.
First pic is of me in Z3 through the famous Karussel during the 1999 24 hour race of Nurburgring as we go into the night time.
Second pic is of me during my late night stint. Notice the Nurburg Castle in background. Once you have driven that track at Night in Rain then you can tell me you've really driven that track , it's dark as hell!!!!!!

The first pic is of me getting in the car to start my night stint. I am in the blue driver suit with checker helmet. May name in red is on the door(M.Herman).
My co driver getting out in the white suit with Auto Motor und Sport was at the time 1999 a test driver for that famous magazine. He is now A FACTORY PORSCHE TEST DRIVER for Porsche AG!!!!!!!!!! He was the fastest in the Z3 period.
In the second pic you can see him helping me with belts and radio. My team is adding oil to the motor as they did on every pit stop.

Probably most memorable race on the Nurburing was the 1998 6 hours of Nurburgring. We were way back after 2 hours into the race ( wheel bearing failure and muffler fell off car). We came back to finish 2nd in class. It was my best and most fun drive ever in my life. I will never forget it.
In this pic thats me with my old helmet on exiting the Hatzenbach section followed and soon to be passed by the overall winning car, and fast as all hell ex- factory DTM Mercedes driven by the Schall brothers. I drove that Z3 to the finish.
