Many thanks, guys, for weighing in so quickly! Since my truck will easily pull 12,000 lbs--I think I'll stick with the steel frame trailers and use the savings to buy options like finished interior, lights and a winch. Had a good conversation with a guy from Millennium today--seems like a good alternative to the Haulmark, Pace etc. I'll keep poking around--so fire away if you have any suggestions!

With your truck you can go heavier and longer and not pay the light weight premium.
Gre one already done (used) and error on the longer not shorter side.
Try ebay.
Good Luck

I love my V-Nose Thule (all aluminum)... Was under $12K new out the door with a spare tire. I beefed up the flipover section of the loading ramp but other than that it's ready to go as is..

No, I use our "Speed Shop's" 1/2 ton Chevy Pickup (small V8). Works great 95% of the time, hills here in NE can get pretty nasty.

Gary,

How much does that trailer weigh? Is it all aluminum? That seems like a great deal.

Cargopro Trailers (ME) was purchased by Thule....nothing changed except the name.
Here is the info on the aluminum enclosed car haulers:
http://www.cargoprotrailers.com/car_haulers.asp
I have the 20':
http://www.cargoprotrailers.com/car_...?ProductID=112
and it weighs ~ 2600# dressed.
It was $14K out the door, loaded (LED lights, finished aluminum/carpet interior, all diamondplate flooring/ramp, rear ramp loading lights, spare tire, escape door, Torflex axles, cabinets, smooth sides (no rivets) etc...... It was a custom order and took 2 weeks to build and deliver!
The largest Cargopro dealer in the US is Atlantic Coast Trailers in Charlton, MA:
http://www.actrailers.com/
PCA Northeast Region sponsors and extremely knowledgeable with enclosed car haulers. They also sell ATC, which is pretty much the Cadillac of all aluminum enclosed car haulers.

As Lewis said, it is 2600 LB. Mine is very basic and I will finish it off as time goes by...

I bought a new 22' Wells Cargo last October- ordered it with what I wanted cabinets, 120v land line, e-track, aero bubble, etc.), had a winch put in after delivery. c. 13K for trailer and winch. Great trailer, pulls easily behind QX56 w/ load leveler anti-sway hitch. Very high quality for the money.

Yeah, I never hear much about the Wells Cargo, but it looks like a quality built trailer. My dealer (who builds custom open trailers) sells and services them and they are priced quite reasonably.
