Default Cheapest Odyssey 680 battery?

Looking to get a Odyssey 680 battery for my the track car and wanted to get some input on who has the best price. Best I have found so far is $99.95 including post terminal adapters at:

http://www.gotbatteries.com/items.as...SL105/37L105S6

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks

Nice! Didn't even think of ebay. I just checked and there are several dealers selling the PC-680MJ with terminals for $74.95 + $14 shipping.

Thanks

Can you use a trickle charger on this battery?

Yes you can use a trickle charger. I have mine hooked up to a "Battery Tender".

The timing on this question is perfect. I was just asking a similar question ahead of putting a PC680 into a street car that will need to sit for long periods.

There is something on this on Odyssey's web site:

Charging an ODYSSEY

What I'm wondering is if one of these trickle chargers will actually keep the battery fully charged or if it is just taking the load of the car (which means the battery will run down more slowly).

Does a trickle charger like this do any harm to the battery?

I also have a solar trickle charger. The solar charger is "12V" but the specs actually say the "open voltage" is 22VAC at a maximum of 120mA. I'm wondering if this higher "open voltage" will damage a dry cell. I'm guessing that it would not because the amps are so low.

Lastly, if the battery does become flat. Is it possible to rercharge it effectively? It seems the Odyssey is recommending special chargers for these batteries.

I usually get my batteries from Batterymart (no affiliation). Now that I know that there are others using battery tenders on the 680's I'm going to get one. They also have a sale on the 680.

As an aside, do you guys use metal jacket models?

Also, do you get the brass posts? They don't appear to have flat sides like the factory terminals. How do you attach your battery cables securely?

Max,

FWIW

(1) I always use the metal jackets
(2) I do get the brass posts and use normal battery connectors...

There was also somebody on eBay that sold basically an entire "kit", alum. bat box w/battery. Can't remember what they sold for though. The alum box was a nice piece too.
