968 brake cooling ducts on 944 steel control arms
Has anyone used the 968 brake cooling ducts on steel control arms? How did you mount them? I have a 1986 944 Turbo with reinforced steel arms with the early sway bar mounts. This should be very similiar to a 944.
Diversified Cryogenics has a kit for 944 Turbo with aluminum control arms with a bracket that mounts to the sway bar attachment but they were not sure if it would work with steel control arms as are on 944s. The steel control ams have a different sway bar attachement.
Thanks,
Mark

If you want to give it a shot, I have a set of the 968 cooling ducts w/ mounting brackets, complete set of pair each of upper and lower "scoops," for use on non-968 for sale real cheap. I was told they would work on early or late offset 944s but they apparently would not work on my car because it has aftermarket coilovers that don't have the necessary mounting tabs. link to FS thread.

just spot weld your own tabs (small L brackets with holes) onto the arms and struts and fab the ducts from fibreglass or thin aluminum.
just remember two things:
1: the 968 ducts also have a shroud around the back of the rotor to duct air into the centre of the rotor
2: if your car is lowered or if you have a front splitter, you will get less airflow to the scoops.

Based on the pictures it looks pretty easy. I have a friend with a welder. Looks like we just have to weld two tabs on the control arm. Does the shroud bolt to same place as the 944 Turbo air deflector on the struts? The car is lowered but not extreme, I still can get a regular floor jack under it. I don't have a splitter.

Schumi, your price is good for someone who needs the brackets. That kit goes for $150 at Diversified Cyrogenics. I just need the scoops though and they are quite a bit less than the entire kit that you have.
