Default Nascar at Infineon

How do the time for cup cars (nascar) compare with Porsche race cars? I see these car run 1:16 to 1:17.

I don't think Porsche race cars run the NASCAR configuration at Infineon in general.

NASCAR runs a modified layout v. everyone else - you can't compare the times as the sports car course and stock car course are much different; one main difference is that NASCAR bypasses the carousel w/ the stock car "chute."

I hear they changed the course a couple of years ago. Is that what was changed?

I think they ought to make them run GT3 Cups Actually it looked like they were driving those cars very hard. Gordon and Johnson look like they know what they are doing in those 3400 lb / 800 hp crushers.

I'm not sure about Infineon but I believe at short course at Watking Glen some SCCA GT1 national cars are running lower times than the NASCAR regulars.

Too funny! I'm sitting here at the house, beer in hand, watching the Nascar race thinking the exact same thing!

I'd love to see Boris Said in a GT3-RS instead of a stock car dicing it up.

....clearly I need more beer!

Not the same thing, as mentioned above, Nascar has a different course-2 miles in length.

Sorry. I thought that you wanted to know Porsche club racing times. 911 times are listed there.

While not an exact comparison with Nextel cup at Lime Rock there is no course change. The best of the Bush North series get around Lime Rock in the mid to high 58 second range. Really flying with 3400+ pound car no wings and I think they are still running bias ply tires. Porsche GT1 club racers this year did mid 56’s and 04 cup cars did 57.4’s on a green track.
