Cool Aerial Photos of Tracks

Google has this cool new feature that lets you check out satellite photos.
Hmmm, I wonder what the Homestead-Miami Speedway looks like from the air?

What about Barber Motorsports Park?

Cool!

See if you can find your favorite track.

In the high deserts above Los Angeles sits Willow Springs, the oldest continuously-operating road course in the country. (It's also arguably the fastest.)

I haven't checked out the google thing, but I wouldn't be surprised if its World Wind under the covers. You can download World Wind from: http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/ Its cool because you can zoom in and out.

Very cool stuff... in a couple of emails to friends when I first got the download, I played find and name the race track from the sat photo. Here's a good one and a favorite of many, see if you can find and identify it:

I played that game a while back. Found lots of my favorite tracks and ones I've been to.

Dan,
How about another hint...perhaps the one place where you're almost guaranteed to get rain on a race weekend???

(Mid-Ohio).

Guess they won't let you link the actual image.

Hey, very good.

I figured that would be obscure since the track hasn't operated as a road course in quite some time.

That was where I attended my first SCCA club race back in 1981.

BTW, how'd you know?

Yep,
Then I looked on racingcircuits.net for Missouri race tracks. Then just found the layout that fit.

PS...
I have another one, but can't figure how to link the picture (or even capture the picture). If I link the page Like Geo it is too easy to figure it out.

DOH! I didn't even notice that, so engrossed on the picture was I (I sound like Yoda now).

Actually, I did it all on Google. If you click on the local search link you can search for pizza places and tings like that. I just typed in race tracks and up popped Mid America. Very cool software, must admit.
