Club Racers,
You folks put on a fun show at the Glen. I'm just a lowly spectator who comes to admire your cars and driving skills. I'll be there again cheering you all on.
Highlights of past Watkins Glen Porsche Clash events for me are seeing Steve Savino in 2003 in a ferocious 944T in GT1R leaving all cup cars behing in the sprint race. I would have loved to see him out there racing against Norm Goldrich who took the win in 2004. Norm, whom I've never met, is wicked fast out there. Those 2 out there together would be a battle of titans! And I really liked watching a fella named Jim Hamblin humble everyone in all his races in 2003 and 2004. That guy is the epitome of sneaky fast and smooth. I can picture his quiet sounding early model white 911 passing all in his way. I'd like to hear from you club racers about your perspective on him. And last but not least, was the sight of a highly modified 944NA driven by Rick DeMan that runs as quick as D class front runners. All on 4 cylinders and less that 200 hp (i imagine).
Have fun guys and be safe!
Mike

Mike,
Thanks for the kind words. Steve is indeed very fast and dont forget Rick Deman in GT1 who is verrry fast too. As well as many others. Now that I have driven the Glen in my car, it should be that much more fun!
Looking forward to ithe Glen again...

Hopefully everyone dials it back and realizes that we can work our way up to a real strong lap LATE in the 3rd session. Towing 1000 miles and sitting in the pits looking at black flags and spending an hour showing video to the Steward to clear myself (Road Atlanta) is not my idea how to spend the first 2 practices. There is a lot of track time coming up LRP, Mid-Ohio, WG I hope we get to spend it on track!! Remember guys/gals this is all about sharing stories over dinner and a $15 paper weight.

Well said Bill, Last year our Enduro at the glen had only 45min of green flag action due to several cars in the kitty litter as well as other unessesary mishaps. Maybe we should mist all the drivers meetings with valium...

Ok guys, let's go easy on our man Michael Martin - he is a quick study on tracks (see TWS result) and you don't want him mad on top of that! Actually a large group from the Rocky Mountain Region is planning on coming:
Andy Wilzoch - GTA
Kim Gutowski - GT2S
Bill Petty, Dave Banazek, Paul Gutowski - GT3S
Chris Cervelli - C or ?
Mike Martin - E
Mike Quigley, Bob Polich - F
David Stribling - G
and others??
There have not been many East meets West showdowns and I'm not suggesting that this meets that criteria but at least we will have a good showing and look forward to getting to know you east coasters and seeing how our setups match up with yours. No question that local knowledge is formidable and I come with no expectations but to have good racing - so see you all in early June
