Michael,
E and F are always well contest at the "Clash." Although E will be a bit lighter after a "clash" of two fast 911s last year, but strong all the same.

I am glad to hear there will be many cars racing in E. There is nothing worse than driving around doing "parade" laps during a race....

HI Mike;

PM is private message. I know what you mean about learning these boards. I just learned today, after 8+ years on rennlist that MY97 is "model year 1997".

Go figure. I just looked through my track stuff and I don't have the corner maps. FYI there are driver educations on Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday prior to the Clash. You could come a day early and get some laps it.

Mike.. One more thing. If you are looking for full fields, in most all classes, the clash is the place. Last year was my first race, in D, and I think there were 55 cars on track for my sprint race. Although not all in the same class. I think D is one of the smallest classes.

If you were familiar with the Glen you would know what I mean when I say I was not quite prepared to go 3 wide, in the middle, through the esses. Driver education will never be the same.

Don -

Looks like there are already 4 of us in D. WG will be my 2nd race, so I'm not expecting too much. I just hope to be in the middle somewhere (assuming they run D with E & F).

Go to www.redlinerennsport.com for a tremendous track description, turn by turn, written by John Hajny. Hope it helps. He also has a map of the track complete with elevation changes---Holy Rollercoaster Batman!!!

Colin;

There were 18 cars in D at the Clash last year. I would expect a similar turn-out this year.

Colin, do you have Dan Jacob's old turbo? Didn't he put that car on the podium last year in D? He's an awesome driver!

Yes I have Dan's old car. He was 3rd last year. Given that this will only be my 2nd race ever, I'm not expecting too much. I'm sure I'll be at least a couple seconds off Dan's pace.

18, Wow. I just looked at the results and D is pretty darn quick. Looks like a high 2:14 would be the middle of the pack in D. I'm doing the TracQuest event in May, so I should get a sense of what I can run in the car.

I can't wait to see you all there. No racing for me, yet, someday maybe when I become independently wealthy. But I just got married last August so I won't be spending any money on cars anytime soon. I'll probably be working check in, gridding, and timing for a bit. You'll all have at least one fan cheering you on. You'll probably see my Red 928 crusing through give me a wave. Have fun all.

Niagara Region is having our DE May 30th-31st there so stop in if you're in the area.

Man, I am looking forward to The Clash. Watkins Glen has been on my wish list for some time. Let's see...18 cars in "D" class, I wonder how many were in GTC3? I'm stepping up on the power curve a bit so those practice runs will be total learning experiences.

Mac;
Sprint race results. You can count the GTC3 entries. Enduro results just below.

Beautiful car you have there. If you need a co-driver for the enduro..

Heavy sustained braking into the Laces, you need to start braking about where the Nascar section leaves the full course, continuing the braking all the way around the apex. Finally a little bit of throttle here, followed by full braking around the toe of the boot. That's a 1st gear corner leading to a hill, so I would just leave your 944 in 1st to use all of that torque.
I'm surprised Chris didn;t tell you about running the whole couse with your handbrake on... maybe he's just saving a few tricks for himself

Seriously the Glen is pretty straightforward and not hard for an experienced driver to learn... its just that it is so fast you need to be 100% confident to drive it right... that's where the experience comes in...... have fun.

Don;

Thanks for the update on the times. Let's see, 2:00 flat will be the mark it seems.

Also, thanks for the selfless offer to co-drive in the enduro. As I know what a hardship it is, I'd not wish that on you so I guess I'll drive it myself. I'd hate for you to suffer so on my behalf.
