Yokohama Vs Dunlop slicks Set up and performance
Has anyone have any data comparing Yoko's to the Dunlop slicks of similar compounds. Opinions on Set-up, Lap times and handling needed.

Scotto, is that you? I have to get one of those cup cars so that I can show you and Berger how to drive them. Anyway, check out this recent thread where we talked about slicks, setup and heat cycles. Click here!

Dunlops hands down over the Yoks. The Yok is a good tire, and it lasts, but I'm 3-4 seconds a lap faster on a 1:45 lap with the Dunlops. Did I mention that I love this tire?

Hey larry,
Whats left of f troop are patiently awaiting your return to apply a little reality to your memories. I have followed the thread but there is no direct comparision between the yoko's and dunlop's. I'm using Yoko's. 207.1 @ W glen, 58.8 @ LRP.
Burger can see the writing on the wall and needs to make the jump to slicks. I'm looking for and edge. The Pirellis are bricks compared to the Yokohama's. I'm just considering the dunlops as a possible better choice. BTW as you probable know slicks are like crack and I've bought my last set of Hossiers.
Scotto ex f-troop now GTC-1

We didn't change the setup for the tires. Ran Yokohama, Pirelli and Dunlop all with the same setup and then I stayed with the Dunlops. A couple of psi change does make a big difference though. Tire temps should be around 190 + on the hot corner.

Hey Bob,
I too ran them all and hands down the Dunlop's were the best...!
Check your tire temps right away and set your camber according to the results...you would hate to ruin a set of those..I found the best hot pressures to be around 26-28 front and 28-29 rear. My car was 2400#.

Monday the 18th will be my first testing with the Dunlop (or any) slicks. Then I will race on them in the SCCA MARRS event the following weekend both at Summit Point. Hope it stays dry. If I don't get below 1:20 I will be disappointed.

Not to change gears on everyone.... but I am about to get my 00 Cup Car and have heard that the "euro" michelin slicks are the hot ticket, better than dunlop?
Does anyone have experience with the US spec or Euro michelin?
