Default Track day at Blackhawk Farms, Rockton, IL May 5, 2005

Come out and drive your car the way it was meant to be driven. Test your limits and your car in the safe, controlled environment of a race track and acquire skills that will provide safer vehicle operation in all driving situations.

We call it 'Driver Education' - it's probably the most fun you will have with your car. Heck, it might be the most fun you can have with your pants on.

Our Driver Education events are casual and first-timers are welcomed! You will only go as fast as you are comfortable with.

Each run group will get plenty of track time! Each group will get four 20-minute sessions, run approximately on the half-hour. There are also two 20-minute instructor sessions, and we would encourage you to ride along with an instructor and pick up a few new tricks, regardless of your skill level!

The cost is $160 for this single-day event.

Convertibles with roll bars are allowed! We are working with the insurance folks to allow un-rollbarred convertibles. Keep checking back for updates!

Event details at http://www.performancedrivingexperience.com/!

PDE is a new group. Most of our instructors are PCA and BMWCCA instructors. It's not a car club; it's just track days. No politics, no officers, just track days. We're running events much like a PCA event. We expect good behavior from all our drivers, stick to our schedule, but we want to make sure each driver has a great track day!

Tim,

You might want to reconsider the 5/4 PCA Novice Day. Those run groups are made up of quite a few first-time track visitors. Blackhawk is also relatively tight so the chances of getting caught behind traffic are pretty good for someone with your experience. The other run groups are for instructors.

PDE sounds like a good option since there are run groups for drivers who fall in between instructors and newbies.

Thanks Joey:

It's my first time at the track and on R compound so I thought I would use it as a test and tune day. If I get up to speed and frustrated, maybe they will let me run with the instructors. If not, I'll just work on a few turns at a time. If it's really bad ... I'll go home. I appreciate the heads up.

Will you be going to the May 5th event?

I'll be instructing with PCA on the 4th and probably won't do PDE the next day. Two days in the middle of the week would be a little more time off than I can spare.

You know it Joey, and thanks fer offrin yer lernin! Sol's slated for a corner balance/alignment and racing brake fluid change and oil change. Hoping for a dry day.

Incidently, I got to see the track a week ago during a Midwest Council race. My friend's father races a GT1 class Corvette. I heard a 944 rolled his car!

Hey Jeff,

I heard about that, too. Don't worry, we'll make sure to keep the shiney side up as they say. C'mon good weather!

C'mon, Greg was brave (foolish) enough to get in with me and he survived (I'm pretty sure).

Seriously, no problem.
