Default How many zip ties does it take...

To put a race car together....

Holy crap, I must've gone through several dozen by now....

Just an off the wall thought, that's all...

I know the feeling. I have more Home Depot pieces in my car than I ever thought possible.

Latest weird project, aluminum splitter, skirts and diffuser.

The underside of my car has now been smoothed out:

And here's a zip-tie project:

Have you ever had a headlight pop out and break on the road? Not if you've got a zip-tie safety net.

Jack,

Very cool looking. Wont that closed bottom affect/kill the air flow cooling of the cylinders ?

The photo's a little misleading. There are openings where the factory 964 engine cover had them, and also openings on either side under the engine (the holes are behind the fins in the picture) so air can circulate around the heads.

However, I ordered a Cylinder Head Temp gauge today so that I can monitor whether the piece causes temperature problems.

I have very modest expectations of the diffuser. It cost me $20 in parts. I'm going to do some testing with it, but I'm more excited about the splitter and skirts (as well as the flat panel from the nose to the rear swaybar).

The optimum is based on the formula:

Zip ties/Racer tape(ft) + hose clamps * pop rivets +CQ*metal stapping2 = 37.55

where CQ = Universal Racers constant of 1.34317

hope that helps

Zip Ties Required = Zip Ties You Have + 1

Same is true for all fastners, hoses, etc. and is particularly true when you are in a hurry.....
