Default Spectator In-car radio scanning at races?

Hello all-

Some friends and I are planning a few road trips to check out a few races this year, most notably the ALMS races at PIR and Laguna Seca.

I was wondering if anyone has any information as to whether or not there are any in-car radio broadcasts that we could pick up on a scanner while sitting there in the stands?

If so, are there pre-assigned frequencies for the various teams, and is there any way we could get a list of them? For that matter, does anyone have any recommendations on scanners?

Also, just out of curiosity, how "secret" are these radio broadcasts? Do teams try to listen in to each other to see what's going on? Are they encrypted in any way? Am I reading too much into this?

Any thoughts?

we know where you live......

its simple really, just ask the team admin manager for their frequencies and listen in, saves all that scanning bother.
