Lightbulb Gear oil pump

I was wondering if anyone has installed an aftermarket pump and cooler on their transmissions.

Id like to know what type ( name) of pump
I thought i could use the oil cooler that is usually located on the front ( I have an aftermarket cooler) and locating it in the rear

where did you place the pick-up & return, how did you connect it, etc,
TIA, Thanks

Hey;

I use a generic trans cooler on mine - mounted remotely - in lieu of the stupid OE loop cooler. Threw that abomination in the trash years ago. I simply threaded hose barbed pipe fittings into the existing inlet/outlet ports. I shouldn't think it would be hard to add a pump into the mix. I've thought about that for some time, but still continue to use the original internal pump.

Everything You will ever need is right here.

Pump will pump sludge to the top of a tree house if You like... ALso recommend a remote oil filter in the loop, post trans pickup, pre pump, pump before cooler. I used a BMW 3 series remote mount filter. Worked like a champ, dumped the cooled fluid back on top of the mainshaft and Ring and pinion. Use the drain plug as the pickup point for the suction side.

Tilton pump. I had holes machined in the case for the inlet/outlet. If you use the drain, you can put plumbing in a vulnerable place. I also have an internal spraybar targeting the individual gearsets.

I used a 951 oil cooler in the rear wheel well.

If you have a limited slip and you track your car, you need a cooler.

I had the Tilton pump on my 901. Worked great.

The Butler built pump is cheaper and happens to be made by Tilton....
