I have an 05 Turbo S and looking to install GT3 type seats with slots for 5/6 pt harness. Ideally, would like adjustable back but most importantly looking for a lower seat so I don't scrape the roof with a helmet on.
Where can I try different seats to see which fits/works best. I'm in New Jersey but will happily drive a couple of hundred miles if necessary!

You might give Len or Mark Cummings a call at 1-800-356-9146. They're located in Stow, MA.
I know they used to have a number of seats on display.

Stable energies
http://yp.yahoo.com/py/ypMap.py?Pyt=...r:regT:1:fbT:0
Or if that didnt work, just search for stable energies in the yahoo yellow pages.
Thats where I bought my helmet, tried on a few and found the one that fit the best. They had a bunch of seats out that you could do the same thing with.

Bob and Laurette (daughter) Kakascik. Great people! I just purchased my new seats from them and the install was completed yesterday.

Got a pretty good deal on Sparco's, most models in stock. Nice guy so I purchased from him rather than trying them on and then purchasing off eBay. If you know your pricing, I'm sure he'll work with you.

How about at the track? Most of the guys I know would not mind a bit if you planted your behind in their seat to try them out. If you go to a big PCA event, you will find all manner of equipment. That's where I did most of my shopping in the early days.

bobby, if the seat is for your 996TT, get the gt3 seats. they are good for track use and easy to get in and out on the street. the shoulder holes are big enough you can easily thread harness in and out of it depending if you are track or street driving and the oem belt will not get tangled.
if you fit pole position or spg, you will fit gt3 seats.
i had all of above seats, the spg is wonderful on track, but hard to get in and out on streets.
also, most race seats has small shoulder holes for harness and it's difficult to pass harness through it when you want to throw the harness to the back when you are not no track. just my 2 cents.

RJay...Yes, I'll be at LRP on April 7-8 and will look u up.
Mooty...Yes, I'm leaning towards the GT3 seats. Especially, if I can adjust the backrest. Attempting to live a life compromised between Street & Track aib't easy I guess.
Where can I find GT3 seats in black leather, alum look back, and Yellow harness...for reasonable dollars???...that would be sweet!

BobbyC.
I would imagine you could simply purchase GT3 seats and have the backs painted.
As far as (track) harnesses go, there was a previous thread regarding colored harnesses; a search will likely find it. IIRC, yellow was the color they were looking for.
If you are talking std 3 point (street) harnesses, you can order yellow belts from Porsche via the usual best price (cost + 15%) places: Sunset Porsche, Hendrick Porsche, Clair Porsche parts (up here in MA).
If you would like to try a fit in Recaro ProRacer SPG XL's, I'll be at LRP on 4/7-4/8 (car is my avatar); stop by and take a test fit.
If it's still snowing, I may end up bringing the Cayenne to the track instead !

Bobby, a friend just purchased a set of yellow Deist belts from Bob at Stable Energies for his yellow Chaquita Banana car (just re-sprayed at DJ's).
