Default Car battery charger?

I need to purchase a battery charger, is there anything or brand I should consider?

Thanks

The Porshe one that plugs into the cigarette lighter works perfectly. It keeps my months-at-
a-time-idle cars ready at a moment's time. Stock 5-year-old batteries are stil perfect.

(Disclaimer: I do not own the Porsche company )

Besides the obvious, what specifically do you want to use it for?

If it's just to maintain a charge on a track car that doesn't get used all that frequently, I like the "Battery Tender" sold by many racer supply shops. (Racer Parts Wholesale comes to mind).

I also have the Porsche trickle charger that plugs into the lighter. Works fine. IIRC it was about $40-$50, so its probably not the least expensive option.

Another vote for the Porsche Tequipment battery maintainer. I have 2 of them.

Why else would I keep a cigarette lighter installed in a Cup car :-)
