Jason, I did a lot of looking a couple months ago and PCA had the cheapest prices (and not by all that much). I plan to add a hardwired one to eliminate the hassle of charging (or forgetting to charge it).

Check local groups that run them. Out here, I got mine with a buy-back guarantee from the group that sold it to me. Hard wired is deifinitely the way to go. You can install it deep in a wheel well where you don't need to get access to it (for charging) and then forget about it.

I use the rechargable unit and LOVE IT!
...but then, I own TWO racecars. This saves me about $300 as I only need one transponder.
The hard-wired one is great, but you have to mount it and power it up to 12v...not that big of a deal, but then it can be.
The rechargable unit lasts for 3 days and comes with both 120vac and 12vdc charging cords that both adapt to the same docking unit...I keep the dock in the door of my tow vehicle and charge the transponder while enroute to the track.
If you're going to get a hard-wired unit. PCA prices are the way to go!

I bought an AMB (rechargeable) unit from hrpworld.com for $199.
IIRC, it was on their specials page or something....it was 4-5 months ago or so
