Default G-50

I was writing to ask about a G-50 Transmission. I have a 1975 914-4 that im turning into a 914-6 with a 3.6L. What I was wanting to know is what Transmission should I put in. The 915 or the G-50 Transmission. With both of the Transmissions what conversion should I do to get them to work in the 914.

Thanks,
Theron Hill

There are several kits to convert the 915 for use in a 914 like this one from Wevo. I don't know of any kits for the G50, but it definitely has and can be done, but will cost ya. When I looked into doing it, a 915 conversion was going to be ~7k installed. I'd guess that the G50 is north of 10k, but that's just a guess.

If $s are not an issue, get the G50. If $s are a factor, then you should decide on power output and make your decision. I took a transmission rebuilding class from Jerry Woods and his advice was up to ~340hp the 915 was fine. After that you needed a G50 or 930.
