Hmm seems to me like the weltmeister sway bay will still work on a 924.

Here are some pics of my weltmeister.

Seems like you could get one of these to fit.

On to torsion bars

30 mm = 335lbs wheel race
31 mm = 382 lbs
32 mm = 434 lbs
33 mm = 490 lbs
34 mm = 553 lbs

So it seems like you can increase your rear spring rate pretty significantly even with torsion bars.

Very interesting, seeing those pics; looks like the only tweaking required to get the Welt bar to fit would be endlinks, and I'd rather have adjustable rod ends anyway, naturally... been on my to-do list for a while. I do like the way they attach at the bottom; think I have that hole in the a-arm too, or I could just swap in new 944 a-arms easily enough. You guys might sell me on that bar yet! LOL Though I'd change out that end-link for a proper left/right-hand threaded pair of rod ends for proper adjustability... surprising they didn't bother.

Geo - I wouldn't be the least surprised to see the turbo guys wanting a bit different setup, with all that power...

Yeah, my base swag for a rate increase was aiming at about 50% more spring. Just a swag, nothing more.

Thanks again guys for all your input! Valuable learning experience for me here...

I had to drill the hole in the a-arm. 924 arms are the same as 944 ones. The set-up for the weltmeister bar for the late aluminum arms is different.

I do think there are "competion drop link" for the welt meister bar that are more stout than the standard ones. Paragon sells these along with the bar's too.

Actually, no, 924 a-arms are slightly different; the only real difference is the swaybar mounting. Not quite interchangeable for that reason, but if we use the Welt. bar, that'd be a good swap.

Funny... I thought they were VW rabbit parts on the 944 and assumed they would be on the 924 as well.

Yes, but with a different suffix letter in the part #... Still, there's always something to be said for commonality...
