993 Cup car for sale
Interesting car for sale. Listing shows a 5 speed and 3.6. I thought all 993 cups were 3.8/6 speed?

THis might be a better link. Not sure what this car is? Maybe a 964 turned 993? What ever it is it wouldn't fit in a Cup car class in PCA. It also has fender flares.

I used to see this car in POC events but have not seen it recently. I knew it was for sale about a year ago and did not hear anything. Not sure about the motor and tranny, might have been replaced along the way for some reason...

Three Wheelin'
It has air jacks and center locks which more than likely would make it a true cup car. The motor may have been changed after a wreck or something in the past 10 years.

The '94 993 Cup had a different aero package than the '95 and newer ones did. The 1994 did not have the front splitter that the newer ones had and still used the automatic tail similar to the 964 Cups. I believe the engine for all the 94-97 Supercups were 3.8ltrs or M64/70 engine with a littel higher compression than the RS. 11.5 - 1 vs 11.3-1. This car has updated body work. Sad to say, this car would have a hard time running in PCA as a GTC car. It has had too many upgrades. Th ecar would have to run as a GT2R or S car, hence the price.

I don't know much about cup cars other than I would love to own one, but looking at the photo, the posts for the windshield wipers appear to have pre 993 spacing. If its a 964 based car that would explain the 3.6

This is a 964 Cup Car.
Kary, this car was campaigned regularly at POC and PCA a few years ago by Steve Alarcon. But he put it on the back burner and built himself a very competitive V3 car to go play with the boys in POC. He must have another project in the works if he is selling this.

1994 Cup Car
Thanks Laura,
This car is a 1994 Carrera Cup Car, It was raced in the Carrera Cup in Germany. You can see the car in its orginal form in Porsche Sport '94 by lrich Upietz. The car is pictured on pages 56, 60 and 61.
This book shows the history of the car when it ran in Germany. The car was brought over to run the 1995 Rolex 24 hours and also the sister car which Wolfgang Land and Bill Auberlen drove. I purchased the car from the team owner after the race. To be legal if the IMSA rules I changed the body to 993 Supercup body work to be allowed to run under the 5 year body production rule. I ran the car in IMSA for a few years and then PCA Club racing. When I raced the car in IMSA I had a 3.8 RSR motor which I have sold. The 3.6 DME motor is the specification motor for the 1994 Cup Car.
Minichamps has a die-cast model of the car driven by J.v.Gartzen part#

Steve:
Were there 1994 964 Cups and 1994 993 Cups? I am not doubting you but everything I read, including the Porsche Sport '94 Book has the MY94 as a 993 with the 3.8 and the MY93 as the last year of the 964?

Jim,
I have the orginal bill of sale from Porsche which says it a 1994 Cup Car which
was the C-2 body. The 993 bodied Cup Cars I believe were called Super Cup Cars. I think we have some Rennlist members who could verify this.

I wanted to go on record about my past post and give you credit. I contacted Adrian Streather(964 guru) and asked him about the 94 964 Cup. He said that there were a few 94 964 cups/RSRs made available for race teams to race Lemans and Daytona that year. I think you are correct in the 94 993 Cup being available to just the Supercup teams. I know in the past when Porsche has changed the body or something major on the Cups, they only make them avaiable to the Supercup teams the first year, i.e. 98 996 Supercups, 2005 997 Supercups etc.
I stand corrected. I will be emailing you off line.
