Damn Norm, you would have beaten my 600 hp beast with a 944 turbo! Yuch! Do I suck!

I can see drifting on a big arc through 2, and then drifting through three, but I still think you will get spit out of 3 into the inside of 4 at the bottom of the hill. I couldn't recover from there without dropping major speed to get around 4 so I paused a little (as Greg wisely suggested) after turn 2 track out and then gunned it, aiming for drifting to the middle of 4 where you could brake going up the hill to get it turned in and then drift it around the turn, near the curbs, until track out.

I would really appreciate it if you could do a more detailed track report after this weekend. You and I have similar cars and you can drive like the wind (sub 1:10)

CC,

Don't be so hard on yourself. I have driven Putnam since the day it opened. I have thousands of miles on it :-)

So while it may sound like 'I am a driver that is all that and a bag of chips' as the saying goes, I have a lot of seat time on the track and am comfortable with cars being driven smoothly but hard and fast a bit over the edge :-)

After this weekend, I will clarify what I may have desribed poorly. Heck, if I may even digitize some in car video if I bring the camera.

CC,

When you say "spit out of 3 into the inside of 4 at the bottom of the hill" - I am not sure what you mean.

In 3 on my way to 4 I touch the curbing on the right then guide the car mid track (at this point I am still not yet near the apex of 4), I stay on throttle, tap the brakes with my left foot then guide the car onto the left apex curbing and stay on the curbing for several feet - I actually hit the curbing a little before apex and drive over tgher apex part of the curb. The curbing acts like positive camber and I can carry more speed which pushes me that much faster to the exit. The car then naturally drifts all the way to the exit of 4 curbing on the right. I then guide it left to the entrance of 5.

Does that help at all? If not I'll wait until after this weekend...

Norm, I'll host the video for you and even edit it if you give it to me. Heck, I'll even send a digital camcorder and mount if you need one. That's how much I want your 1:10 lap video in a car like mine!

It sounds like I am taking too early of an apex on 3. When I hit three, the car drifts pretty hard from the apex all thee way to the left side of the track before the entry to 4. I can't stop it at the middle of the track without slowing. I am also not clipping the curbs at 3 as big as you describe.

Do you hug the curbing on 4 for 20 feet or 40 feet?

CC,

I am guessing I ride the curbing on the left at 4 for maybe 10 feet not much more.

BTW - I do already have in car v ideo of the 1:09. But hopefully I will get faster this weekend as I dial it even better. It ws my first hotlap. I had an outlap to scrub the tires, then 1 hot lap (the 1:09) and then one cool down....

Running shifter karts twice a week (4-6 hrs of seat time every week) for 4 years really improved my ability to qualify on cold tires. Even in the 944 my fastest lap times were lap 2 or 3...

I want to see it too. Might be my only time to "ride" in a car at sub 1:10 times.

Hey Norm,

We missed you at Putnam this weekend. I really missed being lapped every three to four laps by the GT2...

I'd like to see the video also. This may be a nice income stream for you...
