Default Kinematic toe tool for 993TT alignment??

Do I need to get a kinematic (not sure if right spelling) rear toe tool to do a proper alignment on the rear of my 1997 993 TT track car??
The outside of the rear tires are wearing more then the inside (315/30-18 w/ roughly -2.25 camber)
Could someone explain how it works + where to buy one?

Thank you

Where in Ohio are you?

I would do a search on the 993 and 993Turbo board, lots of discussion on this.

A short answer is yes you need to do the adjustment but it may not be what is causing your tires to wear like they are. My guess is you don't have enough negative camber.

I live in Columbus.

I'll try a search. It's hard to find someone I can trust in this area to do the alignment.

I can refer you to a great shop I use in Cincinnati if you don't mind the travel.
Send me a private message if you want some contact info.

While it is not necessary to have the tool it is necessary to understand what the tool is measuring (the difference in angles between the tow links) and how to set it. I knew once but forgot the exact meaning of it all but it is not that hard to figure out. If you can search that far back there were some detailed discussions. Just remember, there is no magic to that tool. It's just a calibrated protractor. The key is just to know the conversion of Porsche's "scale unit" to degrees.
