CC: I agree you need segment times as well, I sem to recall pointing out that was one of the weaknesses of the G-G plot too, there are a number of suboptimal lines (from a lap time perspective) which would yield similar GG sums. In the case I described I shaved a tenth off the segment which from a reference on the straight approaching the corner to a reference about 100 yards after the exit. I called the new line/technique a winner because I got both a higher exit speed and a shorter segment time. I also knew that you'd be pleased to read it

Bob, I agree, you need both segment times and g-sum data to compare segments, lines, set-ups, techniques, etc.
