My last experience with Pagid was getting deposit on my front rotors from the "black" compound. All I can think is that they shipped the wrong compound, so I'll give the pads the benefit of the doubt, but I had to sand down my rotors after every track session... not pleased...especially at the price.

For the money, I keep coming back to Hawk Blue. Stop like crazy never had them fade or deposit material, and I get 2-4 events out of a set, and I replace them at half wear.

I run the Performance Frictions with great success(97 compound). At almost 1/2 the price and 1/3 longer life you can't go wrong. The performance is great as well and I have no more pad deposit/bedding in issues. Drop them in and go.

Cheers, James

I tried the blacks with new rotors and had a problem with material transfer. I too had bedded them in properly and was very unhappy with the results. I am going to PFC 97 for the front and rear at about 1/2 the price.

James,
Great news. I'll let you know after the WG event how they worked.

I had PFC 97's in my 930 before I switched to the Brembo GT's. The squealed like a stuck pig no matter what I did. Cruising on the street was not pretty either.

Before that I was using PFC 90's w/o problams at all for years.

On another note. I tried to order my black pads today and the distributor was out of them for the rear. I was told it would be a cold day in Hell before they came in, so I went with black in front and orange in the rear. I guess we'll see what happens...

Hey Chuck;

I have used PFC-97 for a couple years now. Granted, it is on an Old & Slow 944, but they have performed very well. Virtually NO rotor wear, no noise, little dust, good power and modulation characteristics. I can't give you comparisons to the Pagids, but the PFCs work for me.

Most of the quicker track guys that I know run the RS-19 yellows in their GT3s. I am very happy with their performance, but they do clog up the holes. I did not like the Blacks at all. My oldest son has a 951 and he likes his Oranges. My other son has a Lancer EVO 8, and cured his problematic shuddering by using PF 97s. Sometimes it comes down to the way you brake, and how much brake pad surface you have.

James and Mitch,

Where do you get PFC 97s at half the cost of Pagids? I got a set locally and paid substantially more than Pagid Orange prices.

I've used Pagid Orange mostly on my track-only 951. I tried Pagid Black pads once and they crumbled before they were used up. I've heard of others who had that problem, too.

So far, I'm happy with the PFCs, but was put off by the cost.

I use Hawk Blues on my Spec Miata and love those. I will try them at some point on the 951.

Mark, I get them from Powerwerks in New Hampshire. They are a Rennlist sponsor.

Has anyone used Performance Friction 97? I've been using Pagid Orange on my 993, but got a set of these from a friend who upgraded to Big Reds.
Note, on the 993 PFC 97's, their catalog shows the 993 fronts as #447's with a list around $268, which includes the brake warning cutout. #7700's don't have the brake warning cutout, look to be about 1mm thinner in pad material, and are $176.

As far as a source for Pagids, I've gotten mine from Rennlist sponsor Paragon Products, who includes a can of ATE Super Blue or Typ 200 with each axle set.

For Pagids, I have found the best prices at TRG: http://www.theracersgroup.com/parts/...rakes_pads.htm . Usually $100 less per axel than Performance.

So far I have had no problems with the Blacks and no residue build up like I did on the Oranges...and they haul you down very fast.

I've run orange for years with just very occasional problems with some material transfer. (I have stayed with tem due to their being rotor friendly) This last weekend at SP had had some significant transfer (high temps and pretty tough place on brakes even with cooling improvement we made during the weekend) I think it is time to look for a different compound. And Nick Ventura was killing me under braking into turn one!! Thanks for the info posted it will be very helpful

I just ran my first set of yellows at WG this past weekend. They felt like they had a bit more bite than the oranges I'd run and the wear looks great so far. They are pricey, though, so they had better last! So far no "rotor deposit" issues...

Yellows are a great choice and I recommend them to many of my customers.
They cost more. but last longer in about the same in proportion - and they can withstand tremendous heat. I have not seen a pad deposition to rotor issue with the yellows from the approx 50 sets I have sold.

They are in my opinion the best pad on the planet for our cars.

Whoa, kind of late on this thread, huh? The only problem that I have with the RS19 yellows is that they don't stay yellow for very long
