I'm in my 10th year of racing, and turned 40 a few months months ago. Driving is definitely still improving - especially consistency and time it takes to get up to speed.
Now I just need to keep it going for the next 20+ years like Mike and Del and some of our other CUP archetypes!

I'll be 58 (F_ing sucks) in June started racing at 22 - I wish I knew then what I know now in racing. I think I am just as fast (tough to tell raced different cars), but I know I am more consistent

Coach- yep that's the name! If I was 20 years younger, and still actively racing, I would have loved to use your expertise!! I sure needed it! (my boys would always tell me I could easily do the kink flat in our spec Miata as they always did- I could just never force myself to do it and my lap times showed it!)

I go by the John Torgerson model. Am I holding others up? Do I sneak up and steal a win every now and then? Do I still enjoy it? Am I not a danger to others?
I'm pretty sure John will be 82 this year? Just like a timex, he keeps on ticking!
That's my answer.

Bought my first Porsche (944 Turbo) at age 39. AutoX and Time Trial for a few years and had my first Club Race with POC in 1995. Club Raced for the next 23 years with POC, PCA, HSR, SVRA and VARA and had my final race at age 70. Still had the skills but the logistics detracted from the enjoyment to the point where I decided to retire from racing. I still miss the track but the memory of loading/unloading and long tows to and from events tells me that I made the right decision.

A.) When I'm embarrassingly slow
Or B.) When I no longer feel it's a worthwhile investment of my time and money
Or C.) When they pry the steering wheel from my cold dead hands.
Whichever comes first.
