VIR to require fire suits in HPDE
This should have no strong opinions: heard a rumor that VIR is going to start enforcing the requirement for fire suits in "race prepped" cars in HPDE events. Can anyone confirm/deny this?

I was coaching there at the end of October for 3 days at the NNJR event, and I seem to recall it was mentioned in the drivers meetings? Maybe I am confusing with somewhere else, but I seem to remember them saying "anyone in a full race car needs to be wearing a race suit, track requirement"

This was enforced last season. Caused some issues at one of the Chin events.
I let our NNJR Track Chair know about what I found out at Chin, so it was a non issue for us. Word was out by then.
Heard it was quite the fracas at the Chin event though....;

It's really the cage/ door bars right? Driver needs more time to exit in case of fire. A good suit buys some seconds. Did a DE in my race car in jeans/shirt, didn't like it, didn't feel right. Rather have a suit in a caged car.

I think the concern on the part of folks providing insurance or tracks renting to organizations is the cavalier attitude some take in driving at what were race car speeds a decade or two ago while clothed in shorts and a t-shirt.
This is not on the policies page of VIRnow.com, but it may be included in the contract renters sign. I don't know.
I do know that there was a Ferrari that didn't stop at the end of the back straight at VIR, ending upside down and on fire a few years ago, which got everyone's attention. Especially considering it was a DE...
