Has anyone seen the movie "The Racers" on the old movie channels. It stars Kirk Douglas as Gino Borgesa, a sports car and Grand Prix driver for a team very much like Ferrari. It also stars Cesar Romero, Lee J. Cobb as Mario who kinda plays Carlo Chiti (The old Ferrari team boss.) and Gilbert Rolland. You also see Fangio, Jean Berha, and others.
The racing itself is kinda cheesy, but the movie was made in 1955. You see the tracks of the Monte Carlo, Nurburgring, Monza, Rheims, etc, plus some real footage of the Mille Miglia. I think it is kind of a neat movie.
One thing you see is the team orders back them, when the team boss tells his drivers who is going to win. (Though it doesn't always work out as planned.) It reminded me of the Austrian Grand Prix last year when Rubens moved over for Michael, and a firestorm errupted in the press. Thats the way things were done in the 50's, with most teams.
Anyway, cool movie, try to see it.
