He was looking at the bumper of the car in front of him.

Definitely was avoidable because others did it but either way I think that type of thing is a matter of how long the train is before it collected a victim. Eventually someone's brain is going to fade and instead of thinking 'maybe the guy I'm a foot off of is taking a stupid line and going slower than normal because there is a problem on the left' is going to think 'drop the hammer!'

Looks like possible target fixation too. I've been disabled on the inside of the track after a corner, and after 3-4 laps with that area under yellow I got plowed into by a guy who panic target fixated on my car avoiding bumping a car in front of him.

Brake lights come on about 5 feet from the other car. Ouch.

May have been distracted by something, eyes weren't on the road. Really bad timing for that to happen.

Looking at it again, the fact that he drive right into the back of the spun car, and didn't hit the brakes until it was too late, he must have been looking at his dash or something else.

I hate being spun facing traffic. What happened here is always my worst fear.

Hopefully we here from him. Note how close he is before even touching his brakes.

Feel bad for whoever has to pick up the tab for Mike McCarthy's car.

Distracted by what? Eyes clearly were not up and out. As Luigi said, my worst fear. Sitting duck.

I think Jason has posted here before and as noted, he is a serious pro. I would not go off the video feeds of the brake lights as the LED do not always show up correctly.

Take a closer look at the video. Tires aren't laying down skid marks and there's little in the way of deceleration prior to impact.

I'm certainly curious to learn more.
