Default driving suit

I have a OMP suit from 2007 that has served me very well. It feels like it is starting to thin up a bit from use. Not sure what model it is but for the day it was/is very light.

I am looking for a very light and breathable (if there is such a thing) suit but also one that doesn't sacrifice on safety. I know the Stand suits are some of the best and at the top of the price.

Recommendations?

My Sparco Hocotex suit is very breathable and hard to beat at its price point. Under a grand and catches a breeze in the paddock no problem.

I am extremely happy with my OMP One Evo X racing suit.....it's more comfortable that Hocotex suits and feels just as light.

+1 for Sparco Hocotex material. I am on my second such suit. First one was a Sparco Victory, this past summer replaced with a Sparco Superlegerra. Had both tailored to fit. Both excellent. On a hot day Hocotex is cooler than jeans and a long sleeve t-shirt.

Three most popular suits we sell are the Sparco X-Light, Sparco Competition and OMP Tecnica Evo. X-Light and Tecnica Evo are around the same price a $1399 and $1299 respectively. Competition is $899. I personally have a 2018 Tecnica Evo and love it.

Typically in a driving suit, price goes up as it gets lighter weight. All that we sell have the same fire rating, but the materials to get there are more expensive as they get lighter.

What size is your current suit? Right now, inventories for some models/sizes/colors are a bit slim, waiting for the 2023 models to arrive.

Let me know how I can help.

I've got an OMP One S1. It's great. We have 5 on the race team and they hold up well, are comfortable, and look great. Bob should be able to help you out.

I recently purchased a Sabelt Hero Superlight TS-10. Very pricey, but it was the lightest suit I could find. So far, it's been great.

The Sparco X-Light Hocotex are terrific. Have had OMP in the past. Prefer the Sparco.

Mike:
From 2007, your suit is probably a Tecnica Light. That was OMP's top of the line suit before the OMP One line came out in 2008-2009.

Of there current lineup, the OMP One S would be on par with it, but lighter weight and with newer technology.

The OMP Tecnica Evo is a personal favorite and an excellent value at it's price point.

We also have a large stock of Sparco and Sabelt suits in stock. Please contact me at your convenience if I can be of assistance.

Kind regards,

Do you fit in stock sizes? That has been my issue. I am 6'2 175-lbs and suits that fit my height are made for 250-lb plus guys, especially in the chest and waist. I looked at different custom suits and ended up going with Sabelt (TS-10). They were great to work with - I was lucky enough to go to PRI in Indianapolis and have them take my measurements there, but their online size sheet and step-by-step instructions for taking measurements look easy enough. The suit turned out great and is super light and "breathable."

Just another data point, but I went with an OMP one s1 after reading threads on a few diff forums. It's definitely lighter and cooler than jeans. I absolutely love it, especially without running a cool shirt or similar. It's still in great shape after 5 years

AlpineStars is the only brand I have ever had where I fit perfectly in a stock size. As you say, most of the other ones that fit my height (6' 4") seem made for rather portly men. So I need to do custom with them.

+1... I'm a shade over 6 ft and about 165 and except Alpinestars, suits are usually huge if they fit my height. An astars 54 fits me nearly perfectly.
