Lol I guess some people are still playing "pandemic"

 

Not sure how anyone can make a statement like “playing pandemic” when about 1,400 people in the US every day are still dying from Covid related issues and about 1 million extra lives have been lost over the last two years from this vicious disease.

 

It's ironic that everyone was interested in the side pods seen at the Barcelona test. Now Mercedes reveal their real car with no side pods! Could be a game changer, but we'll see if real or if they have cooling issues.

 

The mask theater was and is just that.

 

If so explain this: in the fall/winter of 2020/21 there were almost no cases of seasonal influenza here in the US. whereas in a normal year the US has 40,000-70,000 deaths directly attributable to it. My hospital is almost 33% full in a normal year during that time frame with flu and RSV type cases. Vaccination rates may have been slightly higher than prior years due to responsible people getting vaccinated for Covid and Influenza. However the only major changes between prior years were mask wearing, which was mandated in the majority of the country at that time and social distancing. People just didn’t catch influenza and the only rationale explanation is that masks, (and social distancing plus an increased awareness of hand washing, etc.) worked to markedly lower transmission of that respiratory disease. As it undeniably does with Covid.

 

Whatever you need to tell yourself, dude. My post was responding specifically to the individual commenting on the absurdity of Formula One still playing mask theater. Feel free to continue going off on tangential rants as you see fit!

 

 

Someone needs to explain to me how Florida, which didn't play the Covid hysteria game, is only slightly above mid-pack in Covid deaths per 100,000 while having the sixth oldest population in the country. Washing hands good, staying home when you're sick better, taking extra precaution around the aged and infirm yes, but shutting down schools and businesses every flu season seems a heavy price to pay.

 

 

While this forum is all about debate your constant stream of pedantic posts are tiresome. You never have anything to add other than an ill-informed "correction" coupled with an offended tone. It's like you are channeling Elizabeth Warren.

Consider that if a mechanic gets COVID, and they take down their other team mates that could have a negative impact on their ability to race. Its pretty straightforward. People are so desperate to wear their political affiliations like some badge of honor.

It's ponderous to really respond to people that have no clue on what they talk about but let's try, shall we?

When was the last time you heard of a mechanic or single individual in a team take down the entire organization? Several drivers have gotten Covid and Daniel RIC has it right now, but McLaren is not in lockdown because there are testing protocols that prevent that so your argument on face value is ridiculous.

Second, there is perhaps nothing more hypocritical in all of F1 than the stand of "We Race as one" with the rainbow flag as the logo. Ask how LGBTQ are treated in SA, Russia and other countries. Human rights? How about China?

Finally, you forgot the green movement within F1 and their push for be carbon neutral.... It's such a huge scam, but if you say it enough times, I guess weak minded people buy it, I guess. Meanwhile, their multiple 747 freighters to go around the globe, their transporters for their lavish motorhomes, private jets to get to the city where the race takes place and the helicopters from the hotel to the circuit. You're being fleeced and you don't even know it. But go on. Preach.

Hypocritical, absolutely. F1 is a for profit enterprise, sadly they don't care where the money comes from. 'Sports washing' is a real thing. Doesn't diminish the value of the message.

I don't see anyone on this thread championing F1's green credentials? If F1 showing some semblance of consideration for the environment allows it to continue without interference, great. This is a racing/DE forum though so I don't think anyone is under any illusions about racing being environmentally friendly..

 

Historically F1 has been part politics and part business and every once in a while a race will break out. Bottomline today's F1 is entertainment for the fans and marketing for the manufacturers. F1 has gone full PC but in words only and there isn't a shred of evidence that they are either green or care about human rights. The only thing that matters is cold hard cash.
