Forget that video of a stupid clown flipping his C7 at Willow Springs.
This is worth the watch.

Mark runs a go-fast parts business, and is well respected in the Corvette world.

Think twice before adopting the 'minimum required' (No sandals, long sleeve T shirt...) approach toward safety gear.at your next track day.
Especially if you already own REAL gear.

Thanks for sharing. Hard to watch as none of us racers like to be reminded about what could happen. Super important lessons to be had here.

Mark and Charles Espenlaub’s fires are teachable moments.

The docs, nurses and staff at Chester Crozer Burn hospital are incredible.

Stunning. Just wow. Incredible story and incredible courage for him to share it. This should be mandatory viewing for everyone in DE and amateur racing. $1000 spent on safety equipment is so much wiser than $1000 spent on a performance engine tune. I hope his recovery continues.

That was the most riveting 35 minutes I've ever spent. Thank you for sharing this incredible video.

Mark, I hope your recovery continues.

Horrible accident. I remember watching JvO on the FLM team in a fire and thinking about his Dad watching that. Among other things, I think it is important to take safety equipment seriously and practice egress.

A serious video and a safety area that is so important. I can remember 20 years the Metro DE Team Dorothy always saying that VAS was there, buy safety gear, and wear it. I'm all the gear, all the time.

Mark is really fortunate that for such a bad crash, he is doing really well. Adrian and Doug are great guys and really saved Mark's life. It's great to seeing Mark doing so well.

Thanks Mark for sharing his incredible story. ..Difficult to watch...A few weeks ago, I upgraded to a manual/automatic fire system for my SMT. I really gotta do the same for my SPB before the first race.

Tracks could mitigate these serious injuries too. Why do so many east coast tracks have trees to hit? I have witnessed cars entering the woods invisible to track workers. Why are west coast desert tracks rutted just off track encouraging rollover? Everyone has a hand in track safety.

Because tracks feel invulnerable because of the all-encompassing waivers everyone signs at the gate?

Very compelling video. Really glad he made it out. And amazing that he took the time to make this video on what must be a difficult topic to discuss. I’ve been in two car fires, but nothing like that. Never even knew there was such a thing as an auto activated fire system; time to look into that.

The one thing that was confusing
is why he crowded the Miata driver to the right. Seemed the less safe choice to me. But shows how one small decision can have dire consequences.

That wasn't NYST; it was NJMP Lightening.
