Coolest Club Race of the year

The king of cool, Nord Stern, is again hosting the coolest pca club race weekend I have ever been to.
Registration just opened.
I'm signed up.

Nothing better than racing on a drag strip and a parking lot. Lol

Btw, this will be the largest field of 911CUPs all year.

is this VIR you speak of?

stownsen914 06-08-2021 12:03 AM

Pretty sure that would be Brainerd

FredC 06-08-2021 10:37 AM

It's indeed a fun event and a fun track.

I'm a Nord Stern member and have only done DE events at BIR. Of course I love the track but what makes the track fun compared to the other big name ones like Road America, Watkins Glen, etc.?

That track is like no other with the drag strip ending in a big banked turn that if you have big enough balls you don't lift!!!
And the atmosphere is laid back. Everyone is cool. Different vibe from other PCA CR's.
And lots of RV so lots stay there.
Saturday night is a huge BBQ party for everyone.

Is it still called "Loonacy"?

That in itself was cool.

Mike in Chi 06-09-2021 06:23 PM

Oops
double post, double "Loonacy"?

Yes, it is still called Loonacy in honor of the loon which is Minnesota's state bird. Brainerd is also the heart of cabin country with hundreds of lakes and thousands of people from the twin cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul) travelling to every weekend.

HaHa!! Turn one at the end of the drag strip is also my test of courage-I chicken out at about 130 MPH. The Nord Stern members are very cool-I'm a newcomer and an introvert so don't interact with the people much but I never feel left out when I'm at the track with them.

the call of a loon at dusk, and a bull elk bugling are the sound of wilderness and the wild.
