Same here.

I'm on pole in front of more powerful cars at my home track at a spectator event.

My shop has nine beautiful cars all running well, big display in the paddock.

Have an incredible race, passing on the last lap into T1. Workers applauding, people waving at the fences... PA announcer going crazy.

Run out of gas at the south end of the track...

Only time I've ever completely lost my cool at the track.

Do this long enough, and someone will forget or miss the calculation...

Arrghh! Frustrating.

WG was essentially a car shake down weekend for me it turns out. Car ran strong (planted and fast), but those rumble strips did shake out the gremlins Couldn't run a full session but enjoyed the weekend and can't say enough about the amazing job/support performed by Bela and his team at European Performance Specialists. This 911Cup of mine I am happy with. Also really enjoyed spending 20 mins with David Murry dissecting my fastest lap from Friday - very insightful.

In the WGI Sat yellow sprint race I was leading the SPC class by 16 seconds and with 2 laps left the car started chugging going up the back straight. I managed to coast and limp it to the final lap and I ran out of fuel going up the Esses on the LAST F**KING LAP. All of my misery is captured nicely as I watched the field fly by to the checker

My tale of woe. Won sprint race 1. Had opened a 23 second gap to P2 in GTC3 when I had a car issue. Spent the rest of the race sitting on the outside of the fast left. At least my Chillout was working well so I didnt heat up.

BTDT. Also at WGI a few years ago. I was in 2nd not 1st but it was a field of 35 or so SPBs. It started sputtering in the boot with two laps to go. I lost 2nd place on the next lap when it started cutting out again. I thought I was going to make it home in 3rd until I got to turn 9. Buy 10 I realized I could coast to 11 but probably would be stranded in the middle of 11 on the final lap. Not a good place so I pulled over on the huge apron and watched everybody go by. I also had a close call at Summit once when just after I made a pass for the lead my fuel light came on and I had no idea how many laps were left. Now I'm fending off Streak behind me while yelling at the radio trying to figure out if I'm going to make it to the end. I did.

Last lap, P1 in Enduro, then this. Fan belt popped off (cost me a LOT of DNFs that season) and into the pits I went... The guy in the 944 came over after and thanked me for not killing him.. did not touch anything!
Sooo close

My first race at Summit - in VGTO with our now deceased Papa Smurf. Car can do MAYBE 45 minutes on the track from topped off fuel to empty. Vintage races are 30 min, so we're always good. Engine warm up in the paddock (15 min). We're on grid and the scrut comes buy and says "Steward said he's going to change this to a 40 minute sprint." "Um, NO, NO NO" I yell at him, who is now walking away.... Everyone tells him no...but we head out anyway....then do TWO yellow flag pace laps...
I'm running third overall....first place bales to get gas....I'm now 2nd. I see guys behind me either run out or bale. I run out right under the starter stand with his "one fricking lap to go" finger waving!!! And the race leader ran out rounding Turn 10 and couldn't coast to the finish! Eventual overall winner was 3 laps down at the time.

VIR 2019, threw a fan/alternator belt at the end of Sprint 1 but didn't know it. Sitting in grid for Sprint 2, the radio is acting up. Run the race IN THE LEAD, and with about 2-3 laps left, the car dies just before the uphill esses. No clue, just dead. Bring it in and the new battery was dead. (the alternator light never went on because some hack...um driver...um... wired it to an LED light which won't work) searched around, but Nadine jumped on the data and saw that toward the end of Sprint 1, the voltage started to drop. At the same time, I 'missed' a shift out of T1 (never got a gear, revved it in Neutral) so that must have thrown the belt.
