The 5W-40 is the specification for the 4.0 engine, Cayennes, Macans and Panameras use 5W-30.

Must explain why every time I start up my 981 I hear metal parts grinding and flying out of the engine.

What engines require C40?

DFI engines that are turbocharged or have a GPF, basically. The C40 oil helps prevent LSPI and soot buildup on the GPF.

Ah, ok, so C40 applies to turbo engines or gas particulate filter, so not applicable to 981. Guess that grinding noise in my engine is something else.

I used DT40 after the first ~8k miles on the engine until the DI40 blend was introduced and have been using that since. I've done UOA with every drain.

We FINALLY got our first stock of Motul oils - not their fault, it's mine...I've been extremely busy lately (thankfully!!)

So...we are now an OFFICIAL Motul Dealer for what that's worth.

Our first stocking order we got
- 300V 15W50
- 300V 0W40
- 8100 5W40
- GEAR 300 75W90 (gear oil)
- GEAR 300 LS 75W90 (gear oil)
and of course RBF 600 and 660 brake fluids.

Let me know if you need anything!!
