I know a bunch of folks who bring them to the paddocks (Mr Romanowski makes a particularly strong pull) so I don’t bring an espresso machine. Someone’s always got one and I mooch off them.
On a related note, I do bring my mini Keurig and boxes of dark roast K Cups and use that in my hotel room on track mornings. Never leave for the track without it. Comes in very handy as I usually wake up at 4am on track days for no apparent reason whatsoever, except that I’m a kid on Christmas morning those days. That first cup on the deck outside my Seneca Lodge room starts the day the right way.

The most important thing is a cooler full of beer. Remember: you won't be at the track alone, you'll be there with plenty of friends-you-haven't-met-yet, many of which have well equipped trailers, and just about everyone will help you out in a pinch. You don't even really need a beer, but it's a nice way to say thanks.
I drive to the track in my Boxster. I usually bring the same basic emergency tools that never leave the car: ratchet set, 12V compressor, leatherman, torx bits, bungees, flashlight, tape, and an assortment of tie wraps. Leaves more room for the beer cooler.

I’m not a racer but I always have wheel chocks in addition to many basic tools listed above. The most frequently requested item I’ve loaned is wheel chocks, followed by tire gauge with bleeder, followed by torque wrench and sockets.
Spare water, snacks, sunblock and an extra chair for “company” (I can fit two folding chairs with my gear).
I often carry compressed air which is another popular item to borrow. If the track has convenient compressed air I may not bring it.
If no garage, bring shade. I usually clamp a large golf umbrella to the folding chair as I don’t have room in the car for a tent.
Gaffers tape is another popular item that not many people carry but there are plenty of applications, and it can be more “friendly” than duct tape in some circumstances.
Extra socks and shoes in case it’s wet. Wet feet are to be avoided.
A few detailing products to clean bugs off windscreen and rubber marks off (if I feel like it).
Artificial tears as driving on hot day (whether helmet visor is up or down) can be very drying to eyes. I discovered this after running sessions where it felt like sand was in my eyes only to discover they were very dry from wind, sun, heat and being outdoors all day. YMMV but an application of artificial tears before session can be good for vision.
Extension cord (comes in handy at hotel too).
I keep a checklist with my gear bag so I don’t forget anything.

We used to have a guy show up with just a fold up chair and news paper He would go out lap the field, then come in and back to his paper.
He was a racer (in a different car and series) and his car was very well prepared so never had issues that needed attention at the track. Always envied that guy.
