I though you weren't supposed to get out of the car unless it was on fire.

I remember that video. Lots of things went wrong there.

I guess they either don't have good flagging at the Nordschleife, or there are a lot of drivers there who don't know/follow the rules.

They obviously need some sort of flagging or light system

It's 14 miles long. How are they going to have enough flaggers there? Plus it's a public road, so lots of different types of cars and driver skill levels

They have a lot more flaggers for private track days than the public, or so I was told.

Did all that happen because of oil on the ground?

It's true on the street, as well as on the track, if a car goes off because of fluid or ice, another car may not be far behind. That driver should have parked further up.

Is that what you are supposed to do at the Ring?

Based on some of the videos I've seen of the Ring, it looks like the wild west of track events. The video linked here is hardly unusual.
