If yes and it's the first of your 2 events, you can join our Caravan on the way down on Thursday.
If it's the 2nd event you're doing, then you can join the caravan on the way home if you like....
Either way, have a blast. Awesome track...

Agree w ProCoach re Durham as a lovely option. Downtown 21C is a delightful experience for art enthusiasts. Lots of local art galleries as well. https://www.21cmuseumhotels.com/durham/
For younger kids the Museum of Life and Science is a treat: an enclosed butterfly pavilion, outdoor black bears habitat, a petting zoo, and indoor hands-on physics, geology, etc. http://www.lifeandscience.org/
Toward Chapel Hill, Fearrington Village has an upscale inn and restaurant in an idyllic setting.

Another (not-exactly-budget-option) fave is closer to Raleigh: a luxury hotel and spa. https://www.theumstead.com/
Both are perfect for a couple's getaway.
You may also wish to consider: VIR has onsite villas for weeklong/weekend rental. Other other amenities onsite include: skeet shooting, a karting track, spa, outdoor pool, and restaurant/bar so could serve as a home-base for daytrips into Danville, Durham, Chapel Hill, South Boston, Richmond etc.
The Ingram collection, Road Scholars (and less exclusive but still fun Foreign Cars Italia in Greensboro) are not to be missed.
