Default Runoffs

I wonder about no thread on the Runoffs...SCCA.com. There have been good races. T2 was nearly a Porsche parade.

My brother was corner working this week. Said there were 77 Wreck Me Otters. That's a lot of bump-drafting!

in SCCA we are “non-contact”...I’ve been non-contacted three times now on my third new SCCA racecar.

Have so many friends running there, have to almost tune in for every race. Kinda cuts down on productivity for the weekend... LOL

For all you air-cooled guys out there, the Formula Vee race is 2PM EST today. I'll be tuning in; have a friend in serious contention for the win, if he can get his motor to last all 14 laps. Hasn't yet. And another friend I've been coaching further back in the pack, see how he does, hoping for good progress...

Had to watch my own class race Friday afternoon while at another track... quite something, leader seemed to drop a cylinder while taking the white flag... dropped to 2nd at the checker... then booted to DFL on fuel! Still waiting to hear more on that...

P2 Race report from David Arken:

The P2 race is history It was a reasonably close race for 2/3/4; Tray Ayres got front row sitter Greg Gyann with a 300cc displacement advantage over all the other cars but Greg’s racecraft got him by Tray and working on Bob Iverson who was in another zip code. Tim Day kept working on Tray from 4th and eventually Tim’s racecraft got him in front and it was a nose to tail battle for 3/4, really great racing. Late in the race Tray looked like he was going to make a try for a pass into 5 but he was unable to pull it off and spun. All the while Greg in 2nd kept up a high pace and on the last lap Bob’s engine went off song and Greg was able to pass him going up the hill out of 14 to the finish line by about a car length. Greg never gave up and in the end it paid off. What is impressive is that is a 2019 GSXR 1ltr. All you folks out there not racing your 1ltr’s need to get one of the new ones and get back to racing. The 2021 Indy Runoffs are less that 365 days away.
Dick Colburn who is competing in about his 40th straight Runoffs had a great day. Mike Rupert just kept getting smoother lap by lap. Peter and Thomas were there pushing the whole race as was Greg’s dad John.
Fred Michael’s was also there doing his best.

P1 Update:
While not a P2 thing it looks like Jean-Luc has too much crash damage from the Q3 last lap shunt in T14, that really takes a lot away from the race. David Locke is also questionable at this time

It was really fun helping David with data this year. I'm so glad the parts and knowledge I shared with him helped. Great guy, great car, and great class. Crazy results - only the Runoffs.

There were a few serious butt-pucker moments in that race. Personally think they need to ban the bump drafting. I know many love it, but certainly contributes to turned cars. But is was SO much more entertaining than F1; close hard racing to the end. Top 18 cars qualified within 1-sec., that's just amazing!
